About the CCHN Doula Program
Answers to Your FAQ’s About the Doula Program:
Is the program really free?
Yes! We are happy to say that thanks to funding from the Health Foundation for Western and Central NY our trained doulas are able to offer their services at no cost to the client. CCHN reimburses the doulas from our grant funds to help them grow their doula business. The program is only open to Cayuga County residents, but we are hoping to expand into more counties in 2022!
What’s included in the program?
Our doula program package includes five visits. These visits are…
Two prenatal appointments - to meet and set up a birth plan or answer any questions
The doula will be present at the hospital for the birth
Two postpartum visits - to check up on you and your new baby and to make sure you are feeling supported
Many of our doulas are also available via text to answer questions that pop up!
How are the doulas trained?
Each of our doulas have completed the DONA Approved Birth Doula Training course led by approved trainers from Beautiful Birth Choices. This is considered the first step in becoming a fully certified doula. Doulas must complete the training and then assist with three qualifying birth support experiences.

How will I pick my doula?
First, you will fill out the CCHN doula interest form (linked HERE) or email hobrien@cayugahealthnetwork.org to let us know you are interested in the program. You will then be sent a list of our available doulas and their bios. We recommend that you pick one or two doulas and interview with them to find out who you match best with. Then you will select that doula and notify the program coordinator of your choice!
